Flash Pay lets you get paid without writing an invoice first. Type an amount, then show your customer a QR code or send them a pay link. They pay by card on a secure page with your business name, and the payment is booked as a paid invoice. Flash Pay is on every plan.
Before you start
- Connect Stripe under Settings → Online payments. Until you do, Flash Pay shows Connect Stripe to use Flash Pay. Payments go to your own Stripe account.
- You don't need the customer's details first. They add their own when they pay.
Show a QR code
- Open Flash Pay in the sidebar, just below Invoices, and select New Flash Pay.
- Enter the amount. You can add a note, items, tax or a client, but you can skip them.
- Select Show QR code.
- Turn the phone to your customer. They point their camera at the code and pay.
The screen says Waiting for payment, then Payment received once the payment goes through.
Send a pay link
If the customer isn't with you:
- Open Flash Pay and select New Flash Pay.
- Enter the amount and select Send payment link.
- Choose Copy, Share, Text message or Email.
The link opens the same secure checkout as the QR code and shows how many days are left before it expires. While you're showing a QR code, you can also select Text or email the link instead.
Cancel a link
To stop an unpaid link, find it on the Flash Pay page and select Cancel link. Nothing has been charged. A link can't be cancelled once it's paid, or while the customer is in the middle of paying.
After the payment
- Each Flash Pay is booked as a paid invoice, so it shows in your invoices and reports. Select View invoice to open it.
- If you ask for customer details, Flash Pay matches an existing client by email or phone, or saves a new client.
- The Flash Pay page lists every Flash Pay with its status: Waiting, Paid, Cancelled, Expired or Refunded. It also shows Collected today and Waiting.
Flash Pay settings
Open Settings → Sales & Invoicing → Invoice Settings → Flash Pay to choose:
- Which customer details to ask for (Name, Email and Phone). Each can be Required, Optional or Don't ask.
- Whether to Save customers as clients.
- Links expire after: 1, 7, 30 or 90 days.
